Places to take people when they visit Melbourne and things they should see

Places to eat:
Moroccan Soup Bar, North Fitzroy; Soul Mama, St Kilda overlooking the beach – on a sunny day preferably; anywhere that does Churros such as San Churro; Koko Black, Lygon street for gorgeous chocolate magic; Cookie for food and cocktails, Quince cafĂ©, Carlton; Matteo, North Fitzroy for luxury dining, lovely place; Panama Dining Room, don't know about the food but the place looks lovely; anywhere on Gertrude street such as Birdman Eating, or lots of places on Smith Street such as Bebida for casual more tapas-style food; or Brunswick street such as Little Creatures or St Jude's Cellar or just walk along until you see a place you like the look of.

Places to drink:
Panama dining room, Smith Street; Bebida, Smith Street; The Alchemist, Brunswick street (also does tapas); Penny Blue, lush velvety surroundings and good beer selection, CBD; New Gurnica, lovely Alice in Wonderland style night club - good DJs etc; Canary Club, DJs, bed sofas upstairs, cocktails; Gin Palace or GPs, down a side street, nice hidden spot, CBD; The Carlton Hotel, opulent surroundings and a cool roof top bar too; Polly on Brunswick street, lovely place persevere through the exterior which makes it look like a place that's not meant for you; Night Cat, Johnson street, for dancing and live music.

Shopping:
Quick brown Fox clothing; Mazis; Kinki Gerlinki; Buttonmania.

Places to see:
To do get a 10 pass tram ticket which you then validate each journey on the tram – if you do two validations on the day it’s valid for the whole day…check re. whether you go out in to zone 2 on your journey.
The Melbourne museum; Melbourne Zoo; St Kilda sunset; St Kilda Little Penguins; Victoria Market; The cool Casino flames…and restaurants nearby; Brunswick street generally; Gertrude street; Smith Street; Lygon Street; Degraves Place; The Craft Market on a Sunday; Go on a tram!
